ribbons and wrappers, especially the Sinamay
and the Raffia materials.
Ribbons are available
in 2 kinds:
1. woven at desired width,
and
2. sewn to desired width
The first type is made
by weaving the ribbon to the customer's desired width. This is made
to order only and cost almost the same as a 30 inch cloth but the
edging will be woven in and will be relatively flat.

The
second type is woven at a larger width, usually 36 inches, then cut
to the desired ribbon size. The edges are folded and sewn. This type
is considerably less espensive and, depending on stock availablity,
has a shorter lead time than the first type. This type is the more
popular of the two.
Wrappers are usually woven
to the client's desired widths. Both Sinamay/Cnamay ribbons and wrappers may be woven
with gold or silver metallic thread which is extremely popular for holiday
gift wrappings. |
